My overall platform can be summarized as socially progressive and fiscally conservative. While some people may find these as mutually exclusive, I don’t believe they are. I consider it a wise investment of taxpayer money to improve opportunity for everyone, to ensure people have a basic income and health care, and free public education for as far as they are able to effectively educate themselves. Our society has come so far that it is perfectly reasonable to expect these basic privileges for all residents of our great country. I call these privileges rather than rights only because I believe that we are privileged to live in a country that is so well off that we can afford to do this. As we do this for our own residents, we also need to work to help other countries be able to provide these to their citizens, and we need to ensure that we as a nation are not hindering their ability to do so.
